Fond memories. I was stationed at Fort Dix 1959-62. Although not an SJRA at the time l was invited to the picnic. My kids loved it. There was a pond with some kind of water craft all the kids were riding. The event was quite family oriented and Hamfest wss secondary.

Ken has it correct. The SJRA Hamfest was held in Malaga, New Jersey for many years. All of the SJRA Hamfests in the 1960's and 1970's were held there.
At some point, the place went downhill and bees were everywhere (even getting into our open Pepsi cans). The event was becoming less and less well attended, so the club stopped going to Malaga.
I have a vague recollection that SJRA tried to hold the hamfest somewhere else at the end, but it did not catch on.
The SJRA Hamfest had been a big event long before I joined the club in 1969.
