Hi Holden,
Here is what I can do to help out your school STEM project which strongly support. It's your future.
2 meter Antenna. I have a 2 meter ground plane with an integrated 440 J-Pole that mounts on a 1.0 to 1.25 inch TV antenna type mast that I will lend to you for your show and tell night. Sorry no mast, they are all in use. I can also supply 25 ft of RG-8X coax with PL-259 male connectors, OK on 2 M but awful lossy on 440 (if I can find it, I know it's here). I will bring this to the club meeting on the 22nd if you let me know you want it.
WY2J on air support Thursday the 23rd.
40M SSB. 6:30 to 7:30 PM. (About where in the band will you be? You should keep us informed on Thursday on 2 meters).
2M FM and Fusion. 6:30 to 7:45 PM K2AA or NJ2CH. FM or AMS mode. See below. I will monitor both bands.
WY2J recommendations.
You have always had trouble on K2AA when operating from the Collingswood area. The Center of Collingswood is 13.8 miles to the K2AA repeater but NJ2CH on 145.37 PL 91.5 FM and AMS Fusion in Cherry Hill is only 1.9 miles. I would set up NJ2CH as a back up programmed into one of your memory channels to quickly get you out of trouble. This machine is owned by the CH OEM crowd and lightly used. Call Art N2CPR to see if you need permission to use it. He is part of the OEM world.
Save your rigs.
It sounds like you plan to operate a 100 watt HF rig, a 50 watt 2M rig and some 2M HT's in close proximity to each other. This could be lethal for the receiver front end circuits especially the 2M HTs. There is most likely enough isolation between the HF and 2M rigs if you keep the antennas well spaced from each other, 50 to 100 feet. But the HTs have almost no frequency selective attenuation between them and your 50 watt rig. If you must use them I would cut the power on all 2M rigs to 5 watts max and 1 to 2 watts if available. This may force you to use the Cherry Hill machine. Any questions you can call me on 609-471-1843 today or Wednesday or Thursday. No calls on Monday or Tuesday as I am tied up with a medical issue.
73,
John WY2J

My plan is to hang up a 40 meter dipole and bring a FT-897, FT-100DR, and a few HT's. As for the 2m unit, I would like to use a mobile antenna vs my 8ft vertical. I would like to know if anyone would allow me to borrow a 2 meter mobile antenna just so I can stick it out a window for local rx. Any help would be appreciated. Secondly, just in case 40 meters is dead during the event, I would use the vhf/ uhf radios as backup. I know I'm asking a lot but if anyone could be my "backup" to talk to kids for a minute QSO each or so would be terrific. I would like for best results a couple of people within 5 or so of Collingswood( FM29LV). Thank you so much for your help.
