This is a follow up message from Bill, G3ODO/w4 who I worked while using
the K2AA/100 call sign. He was very appreciative of the connections we made
to his old work colleague at RCA.

To Rick and other SJRA members who remember Ken Miller, I truly appreciate
your comments, sounds like he was a very active, energetic guy and made his
contributrion.
There were lot of folks associated with my move to the USA and a great
career, however, its Ken' QSL card thats on the wall of my shack; Ken,
.may the Force be with you !
If I could take a little time.
I first worked Ken , K2AGU at 0130 UTC, on May 28, 1966, ( I was just 30
yrs old _ I have just turned 80 Yrs ). We were on 14.060 Mhz , CW; he gave
me 5,6,9, I gave him 5,8.9. I was running 150 W out to a piece of wire in
our backyard in Crawley Sussex, near Gatwick airport where I worked as an
ATC Systems Engineer and was finishing up my college education at the same
time, plus XYL and 3 yr old daughter..
In early '66 RCA Gov't Systems was recruiting engineers to work on the NASA
'STADAN' space program. I think almost 100 applied, 6 were selected , (
British Brain Drain ) I got one of the positions.
A Mr Bill Leonard with RCA interviewed me in London, I was impressed, big
guy, no BS, straight off the plane to the hotel interview room in
London,TNX Bill.
RCA/ Ken Miller were very kind to myself, wife and 3 yr old daughter. They
allowed us to come to the USA on the SS United States, instead of flying,
albeit in March it was a cold, wet windy trip, not much time on deck!
After induction in Washingto DC ( Mr Pat Fanning ), I took a position at
the Fairbanks NASA tracking site, and yes there was a bonus. I stayed
there for 3 yrs and then transferred to the RCA office at Goddard, Md.
It's been a long but very rewarding journey , I never did get to meet Ken
Miller, but he did a lot of the leg work to make our transition from
'quaint' UK to ' lets get it done' USA. I'm still British, but think
American !
>From myself, my wife Sheila and two children, "Thank you Ken Miller ". and
thank you Rick K2AA and SJRA for taking my call on 40 M ..
Vry 73 to all and thanks again, its a fantastic hobby..
