First off Burton that is great news you are going to be 20 CW Band Captain
if I can help feel free to ask. 

 

While we are on FD subject I am the 20M SSB Captain and need SSB operators
as well, the nice thing about FD is you get to try different radios and see
how you like them. 

My enticement this year is I have a Elecraft K3 that I am going to use for
FD and it will be used on 20M SSB, perhaps you have never operated an
Elecraft and would like that opportunity before buying one or you just want
to see how good the receiver really is since many Dx epdititons use them,
well here is your chance.


You don't have to be at FD all day to operate or all night We like to
schedule op's for 2 hr incriments I have had op's ask to do 8 hr shifts,
some op's enjoy working the midnite Hr's as you get to contact different
parts of the globe. Some enjoy Sunday morning send and email and see what we
have open. 

Were all Ham operators so this should be right up everyones alley. Dont feel
like you aren't a good enuff operator or that you are going to make a
mistake. 
This is about having fun and hanging out with the club members and sitting
around eating and telling stories and getting to know one and other better
and perhaps learn a little from each other. . 

I urge all SJRA Members to try to make it out to FD.

I'll give it a shot and volunteer for 20CW Band Chairperson.  I have been
trying to learn CW, so this might just be the motivation and exposure I
really need.

 Here is the reality of the positon.
 
  
 
 The band chairperson does not need to know CW, have  equipment or even be a
contester. Basically the job is to coordinate borrowed  equipment (I think
we  have that covered) and line up operators. If you know CW  that would be
bonus  but again it is not required.
 
  
 
 What is required:
 
 *         Check into the WebEx
 meetings
 
 *         Be available for
 Field Day Friday through Sunday (you can even go
 home)
 
 *         Have some
 organizational skills.
 
  
 
 No one has to be intimidated, we place first place in 6A  without a 20m CW
Chairperson last year. Anything that is contributed is  greatly appreciated
and welcomed.
