Happy Thanksgiving,
I just wanted to show you that the QRP project can be used to have a lot of
fun on the air. Tony N2ATB and I had a sked on 40 CW on Monday afternoon.
We had identical setups ... the club kits ... and we had a great QSO.
On last Sunday afternoon, I had a crazy idea of seeing if I could do anything
with the kits in the CQ WorldWide contest on 40m. To my amazement, I was able to work
4 DX and one domestic station in about 15 minutes of operation ... right through
the heavy CW traffic on 40m.
One of our members (Charles KD2EHD) is planning to key his Tx kit with a computer, so he can
play even though he isn't a cw expert. He might even use a WEB SDR program so he won't even need
a receiver to get on the air!
Bottom line ... get your kits built and start having fun. Maybe we can hold
a SJRA HMBW KIT QSO Party .
73,
Mario / N2AK
