Reminder -- the NJ QSO Party is this weekend!!
September 20, 2025 marks the annual running of the New Jersey QSO Party, from 10 am EDT to 10 pm EDT!
For those of you unfamiliar with QSO Parties, these are weekend events sponsored by clubs in individual states or regions (the 7th Call Area, New England, etc.).
The New Jersey QSO Party is sponsored by the Burlington County Radio Club (BCRC). The chairman of the NJ QSO Party is Don Corrington, AK2S.
QSO Parties work like this -- you get on the air and send your call, RS(T), and county. NJ Counties use 4 letter abbreviations (see below). The objective is to work as many stations as possible within your state and throughout the rest of the US. Every state and NJ county is considered a "Multiplier" and adds to your total score.
Three plaques are given to the overall winner (NNJ or SNJ), the winner of the other NJ Section, and the non-NJ winner.
The link to the QSO Party is New Jersey QSO Party.
There is a group called the State QSO Party Challenge (StateQSOParty.com). It was started to drive interest in working the various QSO Parties. There are 48 approved QSO Parties in the group, including the New Jersey QSO Party. Check out their webpage as they have their own levels of awards.
Bottom line, you can participate in the state party no matter your class of license. It is primarily SSB and CW, although RTTY is allowed, but FT4/FT8 is not.
See you on September 20th in the New Jersey QSO Party!
