Our newest member to work the alphabet is David WN9Q!
Good job DAVID!
I thought that I would share David's email. A super accomplishment!
Hello Bob,
I didn't think I could do it. Twenty five of the contacts were done with
a Wolf River Coil and a 102 inch whip three feet off the ground. Average
power used was 45 watts. Two weeks ago I was down to B, R, U and then the
darn war had started. I had trouble getting to Eastern Europe and finally
succeeded evenings working R and U on openings to the West when the JAs were
coming in. I called many Bs in the evenings and according to PSK Reporter
my signals were fair into the Js and South Korea, but not into China.
Yesterday I threw together an endfed :47' wire to 9:1 unun up 15' on an
old fiberglass windsurfer mast that I retained for such a purpose.
I found BA4TD on 20 cw and with 70 watts got him. I am glad he stuck with
me to get my call right as there was a persistent XE calling at the same
time. But yes after several tries we were successful in exchanging our
599s.
This was one of the more difficult challenges that I have ever
participated in and I really enjoyed it.
The endfed has been taken down and stowed in my garage and I will be back
to the Wolf River Coil vertical for daily dx.
Thanks, good DX and 73,
Dave, WN9Q
