CQ March

The March issue of CQ covers a wide variety of topics and continues our ongoing "CQ Classic" series as we celebrate our 75th anniversary year.

We lead off with the story of how the University of Michigan Amateur Radio Club used a combination of donations and refurbishments to build a portable tower and antenna system; followed by the results of the 2019 CQ World Wide RTTY (radioteletype) DX Contest and two Morse code-related articles, one on a way to learn the code and the other on how operating CW may help protect you from dementia! In addition to helping older hams, we have a resource guide by Contributing Editor K8ZT on different ways to engage young people in amateur radio.

Our 75th-anniversary "CQ Classic" series continues, with a unique twist - a pair of mother-son author combos! Regular contributor Paul Signorelli, W0RW, offers a short article on a "LoJack T-Hunt," while we reprint his mother, Helen's, 1961 article on "Transmitter Hunts on VHF." Plus, we reprise humor writer Sylvia Margolis's 1966 article, "Quiet Family Circle," with son Laurie, G3UML, who wrote a 1999 article on "Memories of JY1" soon after the passing of Jordan's King Hussein. The two of them had a special on-air relationship.
