Depends on the band. You can't just use one single number for all
verticals.
Verticals interact. The interaction can actually beneficial. That's whole
reason a four-square works at all.
You said: "How far of a separation should verticals be from each other?"
Conversely, one could ask "How close should verticals be?"
Glass half empty vs half full. What's the intent/goal? Are you trying to
use them together or trying to prevent them from interacting?
On 2m (144 MHz), two verticals 50' apart would have very little, if any,
interaction. Not so on 40m, 80m, or 160m.
