SJDXA members,

I purchased the LMR400 (500 foot roll) and it is here.

The only 12 gauge 8 conductor rotor cable out there is available from the
Wireman in South Carolina. But they are out of stock (per their web site). I
called them and had a very nice chat with the lady down there. The next
production run for it will be in a couple of weeks. She took my name and
contact information and will contact me when it is available and has put us
in for a 1,000 foot roll. Shipping will be somewhere around $100 as it will
weigh about 145 pounds.

I reached out to Rick Connor WC2K about assisting us (and N2HM) with the
project and he said that he would try depending on his schedule, but advises
us to prepare EVERYTHING in advance. Here are his own words for us:

Meanwhile, you and your physically able clubmates should test each of the
antennas, rotators, and cables to be 100% certain that everything is in
perfect working condition - free of intermittent connections that could
result in major time wasted. A thorough inspection of every
electro-mechanical joint of each antenna should be conducted.

So, that is where we stand.

To remind you, we have the following projects for the fall:

Set up and test two rotors for the 6 and 15 meter beams, including bottom
mast mounts. (Our towers require a rotor top mount to a mast, the same as
what we have on the TA33)

Build and install our M2 six meter beam and rotor.

Retest, and fortify our 15 meter beam, then install with rotor.

Install one 40 meter wire antenna in tree(s) near our sheds and use that
feed box.

Install one 75 meter wire antenna in tree(s) near our N feed box somewhere.

Build and install a 17 meter vertical on the wooden stand behind the
building near our 30 meter vertical. Raise our radials above 6 feet somehow,
use N feed box for coax run.

OBARC officers have given me informal approval to use available rolls of
RG213 coax and the one roll of 9913 (for 6 meter beam) for this project
since it will benefit them for Field Day operations from the site.

Now, all we need is man power to work on these projects.

We will start coordinating all of this AFTER W4DXCC.

See ya' in the Pileups!

73!
