[SJDXA] Antenna input

It all depends on what bands you want to cover and how much green stuff you can afford to spend. I’m not a big fan of the SteppIR antenna’s because of the maintenance problems I have seen many have. They work great when they work and cover everything from 10 thru 20 including the WARC bands. They can cover 40 as well if you get that version. To many moving parts for me.

The Hy-Gain TH7DX is a very good antenna as well, weights 75 pds but does not cover the WARC bands. I had one for several years and was very happy with it. I would prefer antenna like this and would put up a dipole for the WARC bands.

The Bencher Skyhawk is also a very good Triband antenna with the advantage of not having any traps. The Skyhawk also weights 75 pounds. You would also need a dipole for the WARC bands.

Urbs suggestion is also ok, the HEX beam is light and less expensive than any of the others. It lacks the good forward gain and F/b but can get you on the air. Some of the smaller DXpeditions us them since they are light and easy to travel with. I don’t think it’s as good as your A3S.

Antenna’s have become very expensive as you may know so if you can find a used one I would really give it a lot of consideration.
Remember the antenna is the most important part of your station, I would spend more money for a good antenna over a new rig any day.

Opinions vary but that’s mine.

I was looking at the EAntenna 59+. Don't really want to spend my whole life savings either. I am looking to purchase in the next 2 months. Any input is welcome.
