[SJDXA] Replacement Radio

Agree fully. I have one of those older K3s (almost 9 years old!) and still a good performer. Anan has nice specs, but I'm personally leery of not having knobs. A lot depends on how you plan on using the radio: ragchewing, DXing, contesting, cw, SSB, digital, etc. Some radios are better at some of those things than others. The K3 & TS-590SG seem to do all well. It seems there are always K3s for sale by people chasing the latest model, so there may be good values. I think ICOM is doing a good job catching up with technology, so it may be worth waiting if you can.
Then, I did see an unbuilt DX-100 for sale today on qth.com..........
HNY all,
Gerry, W1GD

You cannot go wrong with the K3 ... even an older serial number ... more 'performance' radio per pound cannot be found.
TS590G is a well priced compromise and a favorite in the contesting world.
Keep an eye on the new ICOMs that are about to hit the market. They are approaching K3 specs and level of functionality.

I sent Steve a private email but I would suggest a DX35 and a Drake 2B. I could really show my age and suggest the ARC5 series which I actually owned purchased on radio row in NYC.
