SJDXA MEMBERS WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE.
OBARC members,
At last night's meeting, we decided to set up at the Tuckerton Seaport for the annual ARLHS lighthouse day activity. The last time we activated W2T from the Seaport was 2012 so we thought it was time to return. I have requested W2T special event call sign again. We have plenty of QSLs left from our previous operations.
Mark your calendars. Saturday August 6 setup at 8am, leave by 5pm. We can return on Sunday August 7 if we want. But I left that open pending interest from club members.
I have received approval from the Seaport. The Seaport has loved having us every time we did this going back to the first year when the Seaport opened. We will set up inside the Tucker's Island Lighthouse (air conditioned!) ARLHS Lighthouse # USA-911 and we will put our rotary tri band dipole (20-15-10) on the top, and put a 40 inverted vee on the mid level deck. As before.
Please let me know if you will participate so we can make appropriate plans. Will keep everyone informed as we get closer.
Follows is an announcement that I wrote up for the Seaport.
"The Old Barney Amateur Radio Club" will be doing a demonstration in the Tucker's Island Lighthouse in conjunction with an annual activity sponsored by the "Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society". Amateur Radio operators set up stations at lighthouses all around the USA during the first week of August every year to commemorate "National Lighthouse Day" which was designated by Congress during the American Bicentennial in 1976.
Members of the club will be on hand to offer information about "ham radio".
