Last evening was fantastic from the VP8DRC Sapper Hill top location of
Mario's (VP8ALJ).

Right at sunset, our Noise Level was S5 - fantastic. As I got started, we
experience a problem with the 80 meter station and some interference. This
is why I QRXed in order to get Axel (DL6KRA - VP8IDX) up and going. It took
about 30 minutes and we finally decided to operate 80 meters with 100w like
we had done the night before.

The three internal shack noise issues stayed away providing a pleasure to
operate both 160/80 meter bands. There is some random noise about S6 that
sounds like jamming that comes and goes (I believe local internet/cable),
this is why I change my listening freq once in a while to get around it.

Axel (DL6KVA - VP8IDX) made about 380 Qty 80 Meter QSOs and I (K3LP -
VP8DRC) was able to put 340 Qty 160 meter QSOs. Great night.

I will arrange to send Bob (N2OO) my VP8DRC log after departure on Saturday.
The reason for this is I need to revisit Bob's (VP8LP) QTH to get my VP8DRC
log of Qty 310 20 meters QSO's I made from his house the first day, plus I'm
busy with the local school projects during the day.

For this evening, Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, I have already arrived at the
Sapper Hill top location and it is 1946 GMT. The noise level on both 160 &
80 look great about S1. I do have internet access from this location and
will be monitoring emails and packet spots.

This morning at 0815 GMT, I started CQing JA on 1826.5 looking down 3 - I
heard a JL1 or Jl8 first at 0821 GMT, but could not copy the call sign. Then
out of no where pops up at JA1 and J?8 station. I worked both of these and
could tell there were other signals coming through. I was unable to work
JA's from S. Sandwich and S. Georgia, so glad to work the JA guys from this
location. I will CQ JA's at the same this again today. At the same time,
Axel worked about 20 JA's with 100 watts with the VP8IDX call sign on 80
meters.

Axel will take the evening off and will be replaced by Jay (K4ZLE - VP8USA
(not VP8ZLE). I'm not sure of his operating plans at this time, but most
likely 80/40 meters.

I look forward to working everyone on 160 again this evening. I just hope
the Index improves and atmospheric noise is great this evening.
