As an aside, remember this if you are buying or selling things like Rigs, antennas, etc.  I recently purchased a few FT-1000MP's from the left coast, and the difference before and after what is called the 'amazon pricing effect' was north of $50.

Subject: Pricing Update  All:  This isn’t something I want discussed with customers, but for your information only.  Starting with Astron power supplies later today, there is a pricing refresh occurring across all of the amateur radio product lines. It’s not an across-the-board decrease or increase, but rather an item-by-item adjustment to get everything in line with our pricing strategy. If a customer asks for the old price, you can ask a manager and they can analyze it for you.  We’re starting with Astron because there are several items that we’ve been selling below cost when you calculate in the shipping charges we’ve been covering. UPS’s recent change that calculates freight costs for Ground packages based on their dimensions as well as their weight has had a significant impact on big items (power supplies and antennas in particular). Expect MFJ, Comet, and Diamond to see pricing adjustments soon after Astron. On the price increases due to increased freight costs, don’t expect to receive a price override if the customer requests it. The UPS change took effect the first of the year and we’re 2 months behind making the adjustment. Our competitors adjusted their prices weeks ago.  Radio mainframes and some of the most popular accessories should not see any changes because their prices are already maintained on a daily basis.  We’re also working to bring our in-store prices and the web prices back in line with each other which should simplify things for the retail sales folks as well as our local customers.  Let me know if you have any questions.  --Robby C.
