I am sorry to pass along sad news, but former SJDXA member Ed Clark W2KP is a silent key.
Follows is his obituary FYI.
Edward "Eddie" R. Clark (W2KP) passed away on Thurs Aug 27, 2015 due to complications of congestive heart failure at the young age of 67. He was born Feb 22, 1948 to Elaine and Raymond J. Clark in Atlantic City, NJ. A lifelong resident of Northfield, NJ and graduate of Mainland Regional HS, he later earned an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from Spring Garden Institute in Philadelphia, PA. After college, Eddie joined the US Naval Reserve in 1968 as a Crypto Tech, spending time in Japan during the Vietnam War. He returned home to meet and later marry then Brenda Schlosser of Rydal, PA in May 1973. Eddie retired from the reserves in 1990 after 22 yrs of service. He was an engineer with Bell Atlantic, later Verizon, where he retired with over 30 yrs service. He loved volunteering his time and skills as an amateur radio operator since his late teens. He has mentored many operators young an old. Eddie was presented by Atlantic County Emergency Services Executives an award for Meritorious Service as an Amateur Radio Operator during the June 30, 2012 Derecho. Aside from amateur radio, Eddie was an avid firearms enthusiast, cyclist (in his younger years), assisted with restoration of the Battleship NJ (of which his Father helped build), and various other events volunteering his time and expertise in communications.
Eddie was preceded in death by his Wife Brenda in 1993 after a long battle with breast cancer. He is also preceded by his Father Raymond J. Clark; Mother Elaine C. Price; and Nephew Raymond Doerr. He is survived by his Daughter Amy Higgs (USAF Veteran) and her Husband Tim; Granddaughter Corinne R. Vincent; Sister Marlene Doerr; Brother Raymond Clark Jr. and his Wife Regina; Brother Lawrence Clark; Nephew Allan Doerr and his Wife Kathy; Nephew Robby Doerr and his Wife Judy; Niece Lynn Matthews an her Husband Paul; Niece Anna Asselta; his Mother's Sister Dorothea Hoffner and her Husband Edward; and cousins too numerous to list.
Eddie was a member of SCARA, The NJ Battleship, Old Barney, The NRA, Atlantic County Emergency Managemennt, ARRL, and the Hitton Hill Rifle & Revolver Gun Club. Friends and family are invited to Adams-Perfect Funeral Home in Northfield, NJ for a viewing Sunday Aug 30, 6-8pm, again Monday from 10-11am, with funeral service starting at 11am Monday Aug 31st. Interment will be immediately after with a brief graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery in Pleasantville, NJ. Eddie leaves behind a great legacy, one we all hope to carry on in his memory the best we know how.
