Hi all...



Sorry for this delayed update.....the past week has had me travelling.




During the November 9th work party, our big accomplishment was raising the TX antenna.  




Unfortunately we were not as successful tuning the antenna...in fact some strange things occurred during our adjustments that left us scratching our heads.  This will need to be resolved.




Before the ARRL 160 we need to do some things, most importantly:




1.  Roll out the feedlines and install the beverage transformers on all of the beverage antennas (six or seven in all).




2.  Connect and re-tune the inverted L to serve as our backup TX antenna and potentially as our 'diversity' RX antenna for the ARRL 160 event.




3.  Wire up and install a new low 160m dipole for RX.  This antenna will be located somewhere in close proximity to the site entrance driveway for ease of installation.




4.  Begin prep for installation of the Hi-Z 4 rx antenna.  Ideally we will also work in this project during the daylight hours of the ARRL 160 event  too.




I propose those of us available get together this coming FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 21, for a work party.  WX outlook is cool but dry. The primary focus for this work party will be getting the beverages hooked up, and if time permits several of the other work items listed above.  




Who might be available on Friday?  Other SJDXA members are invited too.

Hi Team....




Its that time again.....to become one with the marsh and install the 160M TX antenna....run out the cables for the beverages, and a few other projects.




PROPOSED DATE:  SUNDAY  NOVEMBER 9th  at 9 a.m.   




Primary Tasks:




Install TX antenna.   Replacement of the element wire is recommended.

Need about 550 feet of No. 12 jacketed for new sloper elements

500 feet of new Marine Grade 8X ordered today for two new 200 foot 8X feedlines.




Walk Beverages and repair as required.




Install  Beverage Coax Cables - stored in shed, marked per antenna.




Install New 160m diople @ 20 feet, for RX, use an existing TX antenna element that is being replaced.  




Lay out an 80 foot square plot for new Hi-Z 4 square RX antenna.....about 500 feet from building near existing NE beverage element closest to marsh (900 foot beverage element to be removed)  




If time permits, tune backup Inverted L.
