[SJDXA] ET3AA help

SJDXA members, I could use some help;

Some of you know that I have been handling the QSL cards for ET3AA, the club
station at the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology in Ethiopia ever since
their "elmer" Sid ET3SID became SK back in 2012.

The original plan was to only handle cards for the December 2011 visit by a
team who provided a VE team for the students, so that they could study, and
pass their USA amateur radio licenses. VERY many passed (I think around 30+)
and some even passed their EXTRA.

After Sid passed away, they decided to dedicate the making of 10,000 QSO's
in Sid's honor.

What has happened, is that the DX community has tried to send ET3AA (and
even ET3SID) QSL requests to me for QSO's with that station going back many
(too many) years. In an effort to "help" the students, I have been trying to
get whatever logs I can get from them. Ken K4FW does work for the "Voice of
America" in Africa, and frequently travels through Addis Ababa. He has
befriended the students over the years, and he has operated ET3AA on
occasion. Recently, Ken got some of the students to participate in the IARU
Contest. His story about his involvement gives a little bit of a peek into
the ET3AA club station. Recently, Ken gave a webinar on this, and it has
been archived on the WWROF website. www.wwrof.org Click on the Webinars

HELP!

Ken recently brought back all of the ET3AA paper logs that he could find at
the station and scanned them in batches for me. And, since the students have
not been answering QSLs, Ken has also brought back QSL mail that went direct
to the club.

I need to get these logs manually transcribed into a computer log. The logs
are a little "disorganized". But not too bad really. As such, I would like
to try to get these transcribed in the same batches as they were scanned.
What is nice about this is that I can "share them in smaller batches" with
anyone willing to do a little computer face time for me (and for the
students at ET3AA). (All future logs will be computer logs. We hope.) Also,
if we have any discrepancies, I should be able to find and make corrections
in the smaller batches as I move through the pile of backlogged QSLs.

Dave K3LP has donated 6,000 QSLs for my ongoing QSL manager work with ET3AA
(3,000 double folded, and 3,000 single). They are being printed by LZ1JZ and
should be arriving in a couple of weeks I am guessing.

If you would like to help, let me know. You can use whatever logging program
you like that allows you to manually enter QSO's, AND can export to an ADIF
logfile. We can "test" a handful of QSO's first to make sure that I can
import the files. I can give more advice as we move forward.

I would like to get everything done by early October if at all possible. I
figure that if we spread the work around, we could get it done.

I have also PRINTED all of the batches out, so if you would prefer paper
copies and can pick them up from me, let me know. Otherwise, I can just send
you the files (PDF). (The full stack is about 6 inches high!)

See ya' in the Pileups!
