[SJDXA] Paranoia

SJDXA Members,

As most of you already know, I was part of the filming of the movie Paranoia
last summer. At that time, I asked if I could borrow the SJDXA FT1000MKV and
the Drake dummy load for the filming in case it was desired..

Here is the rest of the story.

John K2TQN, Jeff KB2CIX (John's son) and I have been working with the film
people so that we could write articles for magazines (QST for John and CQ
for me) describing our experience. The production people have been wonderful
and have provided us with a couple of pictures that we will be able to use
from the film, for use in the magazine articles.

A few days ago, I asked if we (John, Jeff and I) could be listed in the
credits for the movie. We were just told that they would only give credit to
a "company", and not individuals. I then asked if they would list a "club"
instead of a "company" and they agreed. After discussing this with John, we
agreed that since SJDXA provided at least some of the equipment, that we ask
if the club could be listed in the film credits. They agreed.

We both felt that "some" credit was better than "no" credit, in the interest
of Amateur Radio. Although most of the radio equipment in the scene was
John's, a couple of pieces were mine, and one was SJDXA's, we ALL brought an
assortment of stuff for the movie prop people to select from including a
brand new FTDX 5000 borrowed from Yaesu which was not used.

 

As such, at the end of the movie, in the credits, you SHOULD be seeing
something like: 

Amateur Radio Equipment and Consulting by "The South Jersey DX Association".

 

I would like to nominate John as an honorary SJDXA member. Not only for
allowing us to use our club in the credits, but additionally John provided
us with considerable funds for our coax project.
