SJDXA members;
I spoke with Steve W2USF and we have decided to extend the W2WSC/100 into
2013.
We have not decided on the end date yet. We will advise.
We feel that Hurricane Sandy limited many of us from operating during the
event which ended December 31st.
We feel comfortable to extend the operation since the Tuckerton Wireless
started construction in 1912 and continued into 1913 before the first radio
operations began in 1914. Also, the sister station in Germany is having its
100th anniversary in 2013, and we are scheduling a return to the Tuckerton
Historical Society on October 19th and another special scheduled QSO will be
made with the sister station location (in Germany). As some of you may
remember, we contacted that station during our last visit to the museum in
November.
So, mark your calendar NOW. October 19th at the Tuckerton Historical Society
Museum for another "Special Event Activity". We will probably use W2WSC/40
again.
As such, please feel free to continue to operate as W2WSC/100. Also,
W2WSC/WSC can be operated from the West Creek site as well. Please keep a
log of all QSO's. Send your ADIF files to me at n2oo at comcast.net or a copy
of your paper log (scan or mail to me).
Now, it is time to restart W2WSC/100 for the 100th Anniversary of the
Tuckerton Wireless WSC.
SJDXA members: In an effort to minimize showing up on the same band/mode at
the same time, we ask that you simply post a message to the OBARC discussion
list (OBARC members) or to THIS discussion list when you are going on the
air. Before you go on the air, check your discussion list messages to see if
anyone else is active. I know this might cause some confusion for our
non-OBARC members. Just get on and have fun. Watch spots for other
operations. But it is not a big deal if duplicate operations (band/modes)
happen.
That's pretty much it.
You must operate within the limits of YOUR license class.
Logs: Please keep an electronic log if you are able. After each operation,
send it to me n2oo at comcast.net and I will keep track of them here for Steve.
I need you to send me the ADIF logfile. Not sure? Drop me an email. Steve
W2USF will be handling the QSL cards. A very special 4 panel card is being
designed. So, be sure to WORK someone using W2WSC/100 as well.
If you do not do electronic logs, NO PROBLEM! Just keep an accurate paper
log and copy it, scan it, whatever is easiest and get it to me as quickly as
you can.
