To our emergency management and other key partners: 
There is a significant and increasing threat of convective severe weather 
on Saturday, September 8th. The main threat is from tornadoes and strong 
damaging straight line winds. Also, along the Atlantic coast, we are 
seeing rough surf and enhanced rip current risk from Tropical Storm 
Leslie.

•Severe weather threat is increasingly rapidly for Saturday, September 8 
th. Main threat is from tornadoes and strong damaging straight line 
winds. Large hail is possible but a lesser threat. 
• Severe weather timing is late Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. 
• Tropical Storm Leslie remains nearly stationary south of Bermuda. It is 
expected to begin a northward motion and regain hurricane strength this 
weekend. 
• Large swells from Leslie are already affecting our beaches, and that 
will continue through the weekend. High rip current risk is expected to 
continue into early next week. 
• No additional briefing package is scheduled at this time. An updated 
briefing package will be issued if there is a substantial change in the 
threat conditions. 
• Monitor our website at weather.gov/phi
