OK, HK0NA is wrapped up (mostly).
I have been contacted by KK6EK and N7XG to handle the QSLing for their
upcoming DXpedition to Clipperton. They will be QRV in March 2013.
After our discussion last night at the meeting, I have decided to accept.
PLEASE check out their website at:
http://www.cordell.org/CI/
We will be handling all of the direct mail QSLing. Dean, N7XG will be
working on the OQRS requests. This is so he can better work out any bugs
with the new software. I plan to work "minimally" with OQRS, but enough to
learn how it works. Once developed, this software will be available to us
for any future DXpeditions we decide to handle.
The biggest reason taking this one on is that Dean is developing software to
interface with Club Log for a more automatic QSLing process that will be
accessible via an online server for QSL team member's use. OQRS requests
SHOULD be able to be downloaded in BATCHES ready for printing QSO AND
ADDRESS labels (or maybe even ready for printing directly to the cards). (no
more log processing for regular OQRS requests)
This probably will not directly affect the direct snail mail QSLs much. But,
the log WILL be online via a server, so we COULD have a few members using
this access to work on cards. I just do not know how that will work yet.
This DXpedition will not be as large as Malpelo for us.
As such, I would guess that our workload will be much lower than HK0NA.
But, the benefit will be that we will be able to use this system for our
next one, most likely with the Allphin crew, whenever/where ever they go
next.
See ya' in the Pileups!
73!
