The 91b makes a lot of sense. The power is there, the tubes are not fragile and get-able. Not bulletproof but not fragile. Might look into one myself...but I did just see this Henry 5K (2x3cx1200 just for headroom of course ) on Ebay. So the tail end is yeah I would come off of part of a hunny to snap us into the 91b.

Subject: [SJDXA] Alpha
SJDXA Members,
I just heard back from Molly at Alpha. She apologized for the delay.
She said that she has an Alpha 76 PA;
We do have a very nice Alpha 76 PA here at the moment, that might work for your club. It isn’t really a legal limit amp – it was built in the days of 1 kW DC input, 2 kW PEP input, but it is a nice amp for $1,850. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include the 30 or 12 m, but it will run on 18 m.
But she really recommended an Alpha 91ß.
These run about $2800.00
She promised to help us select the one with the best tubes if that is the route we want to follow: (They are sold via HRO)
If you can go a little over $2k, I would really recommend one of the 91ß amps as a very reliable and robust unit – this is especially important where there will be multiple users. Take a look at what they have listed and then let me know and I can tell you which ones have the best tubes….
Finally, if anyone is interested in a DEMO 9500 amp with a full 4 year warranty and 1 year on the tubes, these are being sold for $7150.00 (reg price $7950.00).
Let me know if any of you have some ideas?
Our plan was to sell our current excess inventory of “stuff” and use the funds to purchase a better amplifier. I think we should be able to get about $2k for our current excess items. So, we would be short for a 91ß.
Anyone have any thoughts?
See ya' in the Pileups!
73!
