Interesting idea.  It would probably be a good idea to get a heftier amplifier.  I would recommend a 3-hole version of the Alpha 76A, but I have seen them for under $2K.  Tubes are pricey (which ones aren't?) but, as we've seen, the amps are reliable and usually easily reparable.
