SJDXA MEMBERS! MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!
QSL mail opening session: Our first mail opening session will be held this
Saturday February 11th at the site. 9:00 AM. I currently have 2 long trays
of mail. We have another 3 days of mail this week, plus whatever comes in
with a quick run to the PO on Saturday. This should keep us busy for several
hours. We will have to schedule more mail opening sessions, and we can
discuss this on Saturday.
If you have not helped open the mail before, it is always a fun day at the
site. We get to see some really cool looking QSL cards, and we get to see a
whole different side to a DXpedition; the QSL process.
Everyone who participates becomes a special member of the HK0NA team!
We will supply lunch. And of course the coffee will be on. We also have soda
in the fridge. We will have a group dinner again, just as we did after the
K5D operation to thank everyone who participated.
SJDXA meeting: Our CONTEST prep regular SJDXA meeting will be held on
Wednesday evening, February 22nd at the site. 7:30 PM.
CQWW 160 SSB CONTEST: Yes, our ONLY "regular" on the air activity every year
is the 160 SSB CONTEST. We really do need to know who will participate, and
when.
The set up will begin on Friday February 24th at 9:00 AM.
The contest starts at 5:00 PM (2200 UTC) and runs through Sunday at 2200 utc
(5PM).
I hope you all enjoyed the HK0NA activity!
In case you missed it, they broke the record for a "tent and generator"
DXpedition!
The previous record was held by VP6DX Ducie Island with 183,686 QSO's.
Although a final HK0NA total has not been tallied, the preliminary total is
192,089.
This figure is missing one laptop's last day log, another unknown number of
lost QSO's from the 24th and 25th, and the initial 1,200 QSO's made by the
Fab 4 advance team.
Not my call to decide what number to use. I am pretty sure they will not
break 200,000. But if all of these QSO's are found, my guess is that they
will get to around 196,000. Just a guess.
Club Log was a surprise to me! It was a lot of fun to track everybody in
SJDXA as we made QSO's with HK0NA. But Club Log also has a lot of other very
cool features. I hope you all had a chance to pop around and look at them.
See ya' in the Pileups!
73!
