Subject: Ham Radio Alert - FYI
HAM RADIO ALERT*****The ABC Television series, “Last Man Standing” is about Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a marketing executive for “Outdoor Man,” a fictitious sporting goods store in Colorado
Mike, is a “man’s man” and involved in all kinds of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating. Likewise, Mike (and Tim) has a love for all the electronics that go with these activities. Among Mike’s interests is Amateur Radio (Ham Radio).
In the upcoming episode "Odd Couple Out", we established Tim's character (Mike Baxter), as KA0XTT. This is a call sign the show cleared for use on air. "XTT" is a bit of a private joke as Tim's character name on "Home Improvement" was Tim Taylor. So, ex T. T.
The show has quite a bit of radio gear located in “Mike’s” Office in the Outdoor Man Set. The radio equipment was originally intended to be used as props and set dressing items however, because eight of the shows staff members are licensed amateur radio amateurs, it didn’t take long before they made the radio equipment “practical”, which is to say actually capable of making radio calls live from the stage.
Located about 50 feet directly above the “Mike’s Office” set is our antenna farm.
The antennas are a Comet CHV-5X (multiband, rotatable dipole), a Comet GP-1 (2M/70cm base antenna) and an Arrow Antennas GP146 and GP435.
In the show’s radio inventory is currently an ICOM IC-9100 HF radio, an IC-92AD dual band, hand-held, a Heil PR-781microphone, a Daiwa CN-801HP SWR/Power meter a Comet CAA-500 antenna analyzer and a Iambic CW Paddle.

In the near future, the show is hoping to have "Guest operators" from the local ham community make contacts from the stage.
