*** New Atlantic Division Contest Advisory Committee Representative
***

The Contest Advisory Committee (CAC) was established by the ARRL Board
for the purpose of investigating and advising on issues about contests
that are referred to it by the Programs & Services Committee.

Mike Gilmer N2MG has served as our CAC representative for several years
now. Most recently, Mike has become very busy at work and his work
schedule wouldn't permit him to participate the way he would like to.
I'd like to personally thank Mike for the time and effort he put forth
in representing the Atlantic Division members on the CAC.

Charles (Chas) Fulp K3WW has been appointed as our new CAC
representative.

Chas has been licensed since 1959 as KN3HTZ. He earned his license as
a member of the Pennridge High School ARC. His first contest was in FD
with the North Penn Amateur Radio Club in 1959, and began participating
in CD parties and other ARRL contests by 1960. Chas has participated in
the ARRL DX on CW every year since 1962, and he joined the Frankford
Radio Club in 1965.

Although the FRC has been my primary club continuously since then. he
is also a charter member of the RF Hill ARC, and he's done many Field
Days with that group.

Chas has many great memories of contesting with his friends, and
meeting many of them at Dayton. His favorite contests are CW/ DX
events; however, he does participate in many SSB events, domestic
contests, some RTTY, VHF, QSO parties and QRP events. He does have at
least 1 clean sweep mug for each year since 1991.

He also tries to spend some time in one or two contests every weekend,
and full time in 5 or 6 contests a year.

Please join Tom W3TOM and me in welcoming Chas K3WW to his new position
and also thanking Mike N2MG for his past service.

*** MARINE CORPS MARATHON 2011 NEEDS MORE OPERATORS ***

The Amateur Radio Planning Team is 70 volunteers short and needs more
HAMs to sign up. Now.

Go to NCACDC.COM.

Scroll down and click on the red "Sign Up Here". The Marines' sign-up
page ("DoItSports") will load. Click on "Volunteer for This Job". The
Marine volunteer form page will load. Answer the questions, read the
information, and when satisfied, send the form. If successful, the
Marine sign up will send a confirming e-mail. As soon as you receive
the confirming e-mail, follow its instructions to sign up. You are not
signed up until you complete both steps.

Sign up now. If not now, sign up by the end of August. The Marines want
to know all the HAMs on the course, where they’ll be and what they'll
be doing, by the end of September. The Marines in turn use this for
food orders, credentials, tee shirts, etc. The Planning Team uses it to
create the race info packets. Building the roster takes a month do--if
Planning has all the sign-ups.

Again, please make sure you've signed up and we have your information
before Wednesday 31 August. Think of it as arriving two hours before
your flight.

Also the MCM Planning Team has been asked to staff several more medical
locations. And so, it is looking for more volunteers with
mobile/portable D-STAR DV and DD as well as 9600 bps packet.

And, by the way, if you have a Kenwood TM-D700A you have an
out-of-the-box 9600 bps packet radio that works with our
requirements--fine. Of course, outboard 9600 bps TNCs also would work
fine.

The Planning Team is grateful to the volunteers who signed up for this
year's MCM---a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain operating experience
in a real, multi-region event.
