[SJDXA] West Creek Clean up Saturday, May 8

Many thanks to N2HM, N2OO, K2RET, W2CCW, W1GD, W2GD and W2NO who came out
today. We finished up about 12:30... well before the wind/bad WX began to
pick up.
 
To-do items for fall set up:
1. Replace wire on both NE and SW slopers. (CG & NO)
2. Determine whether the NE sloper and SW delta loop can be configured as an
Omni. (SSB boys had good results with using the SW delta loop as a TX
antenna).  Anyone with EZ-Nec that can run that model?
3. Re-inspect the pull ropes before using them again. (Gerry and I saw some
chafing on the SW pull rope).
4. Restring SW sloper pull rope, one of the big trees fell down. (Bow and
arrow needed, TW or EA?)
5. Solve the guy wire interaction with the TX antennas. (TW & GD's task)
6. Line up K3 transceivers to use. (2GD task)
That's all I can think of this moment, feel free to add to the list.

Just checked the Saturday WX and not looking like good tower climbing WX.
But if we start early enough, the other stuff should be do-able if the WX
cooperates.

All,
It looks like we can finally get everyone together for the clean up on
Saturday, May 8.
I would suggest we arrive at 9:00 AM, this way we should be able to finish
early and go about our business for the rest of the day. 

Order of business:
Identify, label and roll up all coax feeding beverages and remote antenna.
Take down transmit antennas off tower, (may need a climber to untangle
antenna off guy wires).
Take down remote antenna.
Clean up cabling and stow gear from inside shack.

Other business
Group Expenses:
W2GD has spent about $200 for coax and hardware for the remote antenna.
I bought 500' of RG8X last year and paid for the Stew Perry plaque donation
the past two years for a total of $250.  
N2OO has asked that we kick in a little for the cost of the shed, where we
will store the coax and anything else not susceptible to the weather or that
the critters won't chew up in the off season. They're looking for $200 from
us, which amounts to only 10% of the total cost. I've already sent a
personal donation, but I'm willing to add to the groups' donation as well.
Add it all up for the group and it comes to $650, unless there are other
un-identified expenses.

We have a core group of seven operators: K2TW, N2EA, W1GD, W2CG, W2GD, W2NO,
W2RQ. That breaks down to about $93 per person.
Also, please don't forget to send WYRS a donation, without them we couldn't
do this without their hospitality.
 
I would appreciate that you send me your share or give it to me on clean up
day.
