SJDXA members;
Well, what an interesting day at the N2CW super station!
We started late (noon) due the the snow issues. Upon arrival, we found ALL 3 TRANSMIT ANTENNAS DOWN!
Not one, not two... all 3.
Both slopers snapped at the top of the tower. The vertical dipole snapped at the top of the short tower near the building.
W2CG, K2RET, N2OO and W2ARP braved the elements and after some careful consideration decided to try to drop the northeast rope and reattach the wire that snapped if possible. After alot of manipulating, (ALOT!), and N2OO getting sucked into the marsh, we were able to pull up the NORTHEAST sloper.
Next, we looked at the west sloper however it was snagged on a guy wire and could not easily be brought down. I came up with an idea. The CW team had placed an experimental second delta loop behind the WEST sloper. So, we broke and fed it with the coax for the WEST sloper. After some manipulating the bottom height, we got it to tune fairly well across the entire band.
The vertical dipole would require climbing and we did not have a climber here, so we abandoned using it.
So, we are using an unusal array now! It is working quite well! We use the NE sloper entirely on the run station and we have worked west AND SOUTH very well with it, as well as into EU. The delta loop is being used by the mult station and has been working quite well too!
Now, I sure would love to see the modeling for THIS array! But it seems to be working VERY WELL. We will leave it alone!
So, we only have 3 ops for tonight so far. W2CG, K2RET qand me N2OO. Hope you all have a chance to work us or operate with us.
GO SJDXA!
GO N2CW!!

73 and see ya' in the pileups!
