SJDXA members,
The 10 meter contest went fine today and continues tomorrow. We had a large
crowd of visitors from OBARC.
A special thanks to W2NO and W2CG who came by to repair the 160 NE beverage.
They assisted with a few things around the shack for us. They found an open
cable in the phasing harness for the beverage and Danny took it home to
repair. Now we know why the NE beverage sounded lousy last week. The CW team
will be back next weekend for the 160 Stew Perry contest.
The OBARC 4 element 10 meter beam was built and placed on the OBARC tower
trailer and raised he full 50 feet in the parking lot. It is performing
superbly!
Our club TA33 is tuned to work well on CW. And it does. However, this
afternoon our rotor stopped turning in one direction. It eventually ended up
at South which is where it is stuck pointing right now.
We tried a few other control boxes, and checked the wires in the shack and
all look OK. So, the problem is probably up the tower which will require
someone to climb.
Guess we can wait for better weather? In any event, we do have a spare
Tailtwister available if it is the rotor. But I am inclined to think that a
wire came loose or broke.
K2RET and others will be at the site again tomorrow to continue the contest
starting around 7:00 AM. Everyone is welcome (again). I'll stop by in the
afternoon.
See ya' in the Pileups!
73!
