Hi Mike,
Thanks!
This is something that I've been wanting to do for some time and finally I got it together.
The first thing I would suggest is get the data sheet for that IC. You'll see that it is very small, surface mount.I used to work at a place that uses them for wild-life tracking bird transmitters, so they have the programmer, which is expensive. They also had an old pc board that they mounted it to for me. That way I could attach power, (3 volts), and had access to its output pin.According to the hr-6 manual, the output frequency is f/6 = the fundamental freq. That is what I had it programmed to.
On the hr-6 schematic you'll see that there is a coil from the output of the crystal oscillator to the input of that secret IC. I had to disconnect that coil at the crystal oscillator end and attach the new oscillators output to that coil. I also disconnected the mic stage so no fm'ing could occur. Then go through the stages and tune it up. I used an sdr receiver to get it as close as I could and then took it to a friend who has an HP station monitor and did the final adjustments.
I used an arduino chip for the timing and keying. Somewhere after most of the stages and before the finals, I cut the circuit and connected in a to-3 pnp transistor for the power keying. I disconnected power to the rcvr and just jumpered the relay so the output was constantly wired to the antenna port.
It only outputs 6 watts so I think the final is weak. Another gent offered to send m an amp and I'm waiting to hear more from him about that.

Hi Tom (WA9WSJ)
Nice to hear about your beacon I will take a listen for it here in Va. I'm
curious about the SiT8008B programmable oscillator. Can you give some
details on this? Incidentally my first 6 meter FM rig was an HR 6 back in
the 80's I sold it and then bought it back a few years later and still have
it.
I 'm running a 6 meter repeater here in Va on 51.86.
