Roger, I'm glad to know that I am not alone .... trying to have a
personal life while working 50 to 60 hour weeks for my employer. I
too was called when on the flight line at both Oshkosh and Sun-N-Fun
in Lakeland, Fl. While vacationing in the V.I During Thanksgiving
and Christmas and birthdays with my kids. I've never has a 9-5 M-F
job. Broadcast Television was my life for over 45 years.

One of my bucket-list items was to be on six meters during a sunspot
cycle like the maximum in 1957. My mentor worked the world on six
AM with a Layafette 10 watt transceiver that probably couldn't hear
signals below 2 mv.

Unfortunately ....

The next cycle doesn't look great either.

So its ( seemingly ) digital modes or nothing and I don't touch-type.

I tried to retire four times... each retirement lasted six months
before my successors left and I agreed to help again until another
supervisor was found.

Me too !! ( see above )
I've noticed that things I thought important years ago are dropping
down my list at a rapid rate.

I used to climb my 140 foot tower on a weekly basis if I needed to
improve the antennas and rotators... now, the knees and hips say "No".

Now, finding someone that I would trust... who wouldn't fall and their
widow sue me for everything I own.... It probably isn't going to be
worth the cost of a commercial insured crew especially in light of the
predicted lows of the next sunspot cycle.
