ARLB024 W1AW to begin scheduled transmissions on 6 meters starting January 2, 2018

Beginning with the 9 AM EST fast code practice on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, W1AW will add 6 meters - specifically 50350 kHz - to its regular CW code practice, and CW, digital and phone bulletin transmission schedule.

Prior to late 1989, W1AW had a presence on 6 meters for all its CW practice, and regular bulletins. Since that time however, the station was absent on 6 meters, with the exception of regular visitor operations and contests.

In addition to providing regularly scheduled transmissions on 6 meters, another goal is to act as a beacon on 6 meters, especially from the Northeast US.

Signal reports will be welcome. A web page that will allow listeners to provide signal reports will be made available after the start date. Reports may also be emailed to W1AW at, <w1aw at arrl.org>.

Hello All,
Back in the 70's there was a midwest club named SPESM, Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Six Meters.
Does anyone know if it's this still active?
I've google it and only came up with articles from that time about it.
I was a member, number 187, but haven't heard it mentioned in a long time!
Jog any memories?
I know SMIRK is active, I'm #2074, I found it on the internet but just curious about SPESM.

Tom?If my memory is correct I can remember getting some kind of newsletter from them it wasn't much but that was before the internet became a reality. I believe they were active even up and to the early 80s then I think they went by the wayside like so many other clubs did, that delt with six even 2 meter sideband.
