At the Midland swap there was an ft1000 MK-V and a nice looking quadra.
It was the first time I'd been out for long so I didn't last long, but I
kept looking and looking. He made me a really good offer and I should
have taken ti because he didn't want to haul it home. But it was time
for the pain meds and a good nap. I got to thinking and got his e-mail
address. We still worked out a good price, but not as good as at the
swap, nor did I expect it to be. He also had an Emtron DX-2sp, but it
was the older version using the expensive Russian tube and that was at
an outstanding price. I could have afforded to upgrade the tube to the
Chinese FU728F and still been way ahead, but passed on that one. I
really would have liked to have a second DX-2sp.

The 1000 MK-V will make a great backup rig/main rig from the shop along
with my DX-2sp amp. I may end up moving the 5000 to the shop and the
1000 to the den because the 5000MP works so well with the DX-2s

The nice thing about the quadra is 500 watts on 6-meters.

Unfortunately , with all the moves I lost a ground which literallysmoked
my VNA . Two little resistors I assume, that were next to the 12VDC
power connector were no more. I hope it's repairable as the VNAs are a
bit pricey.

The 7L C3i is ready to go back up as is the rotator. I just need to find
a climber and have an antenna party. We need to taker down the 40 ft
25G with the gin pole on it, put the gin pole on the 45G, install the 2"
DOM mast, install the 7L C3i, raise the mast about 15' and install the
rotator.

I really want to get back on 6.

I will add that getting the 5000MP and Quadra to talk to each other was
not exactly straight forward.

73,

Roger (K8RI)
