Did you look at the "Stereo Satellite" image of the sun?  Instead of 
being blank there are two almost solid bands of activity all the way 
around it located about 45 degrees North and South.  Nothing like it has 
looked for the past few years.  Maybe putting that big 40 meter beam at 
100 feet is a waste of time although Europe sure was coming in strong 
last night.
OTOH Winter before last 40 meters at night was like 20 used to be in the 
daytime and it hasn't been, or doesn't seem like it was that long ago 
you could hear all continents within just a few minutes...ON 6-METERS!

Although they were predicting this cycle peak was going to continue the 
downward trend, it sorta looks like it might be a really active one.
