[SixClub] Red lines across the 6m map - silence in EM92

I've been busy working on rebuilding and refinishing furniture for the
den so that computer has been off line along with this address. I
finally have it working on one of the computers in the shop.

Learning the new rig, which BTW will tune up happily any where on six
whether the AV640 has some problems or not. I only heard bits and
pieces but the band was open most of the afternoon until near evening.
I only worked W4IMD EM84, but heard lots of gulf coast stations. So the
AV640 at 24' and 200 watts does get out.

I took a break from spraying Polyurethane on the parts of the computer
hutch? and the big desk. I'm going to have to replace the top of that.
I think the hair on my arms is now waterproof. <:-))

At any rate, 14, 18, 21, 24.5, and 28 were all open. 10 was quite busy.

Garbled? That sounds like there may have been some Aurora.

But doc, I'm on the air ...albeit briefly and you actually worked a
station on six. It didn't *completely* Jinx the band for you! <:-))
I do get a charge from the "experts" I hear on the air (on other bands)
describing what it was like back in the 50's and 70's when you could
work coast to coast and even the occasional DX. Unfortunately six has
never been like that since. I almost broke in to tell them about
missing WAC "One page in the log" back in early 02. Two days:
Greenland, Canary Islands, Albania, Pakistan, Karachi India, Bulgaria,
Greenland, Whitehorse Canada, Slovak Rep, Croatia, Slovenia, Wales,
Liverpool, Netherlands, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Isle of
Skye(Scotland), England, Ireland, Ireland. A couple pages back, November
01 is even better with world wide, japan, Russia, a stack of KL7's,
Israel...etc.

We "*May* be approaching that kind of propagation again with the upswing
in solar activity.
I *gotta* get that 7L Yagi back up at 115'. I do have it rebuilt, but
Arthritis has kept me off the tower.

Maybe I'll learn how to use all the functions on the new rig before this
peak is past.

It doesn't have a good band scope, but soft ware is available so I can
use the 25" wide screen monitor as a band scope along with Ham Radio
Deluxe. That and if I can master running it with the computer in the
house I can abandon the SO2R set up and save a bundle. Although it
doesn't match the 7L C3i the old AV640 does make a passable back up.
Now if I can build, buy, borrow, swindle, or steal a good amp...<:-))

Unfortunately, unlike the government I'll probably have to pay for it.
Probably!?
