OFF TOPIC, but anyway.............

My Elmer had a wall of the most exotic QSL cards I ever saw. Africa,
Asia, Europe, South Pacific.....mostly picture postcards converted to
QSLs.

When I passed the General, I called him and asked him to help me make
my first AM Phone contact with my DX-40 and a just purchased microphone.
  ( dating myself ) .

He said he couldn't get to the low bands. He was a Technician class.

Later that week, I went over to his house to look at the QSLs again.

All were on six meter crystal control AM using a tube type Layfette
HE-45 transceiver that "on a good day", might have put out 10 watts
of RF and heard 2.0mv with a new set of tubes.

Of course , those cards were dated 1957 and 1958 during cycle 19.
He said that the six meter band was open world wide twenty four hours a day.

Now, with 100 watt ssb rigs hearing .15mv and better and computer
optimized beams, I am looking forward the next sunspot cycle. There
should be a lot of countries and islands on six with good equipment.

I sure would like to see this cycle approach what 19 was doing.

I have an Extra class license now, but there is something special
about six that keeps my attention.
