Well, the county finally plowed out our road (love 4WD) just before noon
today.
Looks like that FTDX5000MP may have to wait a while and I'll still be
using the 756 Pro on six for a while with the 7000 as a backup. The 897D
is back, works fine (I've been using it for the last week) so it's for
sale if any one is interested.
It seems as the tip tanks on the Beech are leaking and need to be
replaced before I can sell it. If you think ham equipment is expensive,
get something that says airplane or aviation on it. Of course replacing
those tip tanks means new nav lights (and strobes), but the Deb is so
old it means removing the top and bottom strobes (they don't use those
any more) and installing a strobe and position light at the rear of the
plane. Mine is so old it doesn't have that rotating position light on
top of the tail. (It was built in 59)
All this work makes the 5000MP look like a bargain, but "they tell me" I
should get it back *when* the plane sells AND my mechanic tells me it
should make the plane much more salable. (IOW I should get my money
sooner). Now if the Market holds AND the plane sells...<sigh>
If I was 20 years younger with that good paying job, I'd have them
install a trailing wire antenna and fix up a spot for the IC-7000
inside. <:-)) Airborne mobile is actually easier than mobile in the car.
OTOH IF I was 20 years younger I wouldn't be selling it and I'd be back
to flying 130 plus hours per year. AND I'd have all that antenna work
done I've been trying to finish for the last year.
As I've said before, Getting old is a Bi**h, but getting here was fun.
