Depending on how the wind blows in Egypt gas could get really expensive.
Crude is already near 100 due to the turmoil at present. Gas is
forecast to hit $3.50 by May.

Even if they opened up all restricted drilling immediately it would not
prevent the prices from going to $4 or quite likely $5 a gallon within
the next year or two. There is nearly a 10 year lag between
exploration, opening a field, and its effect on the pump price. Pump
price is set by the price of crude which is controlled mainly by the Mid
East. It's set by refinery capacity which is insufficient and as far as
I know, no new capacity has been built for some time due to the mountain
of regulations, Politics particularly in the Mid East (If the radicals
get into power we'll be lucky to get crude) and finally, demand for the
product (already hit supply)
The last time gas got expensive the drop in traffic and its speeds was
quite noticeable at least around here. The demand dropped to the point
where the price went down.
A new control by regulation instead of laws:
The EPA in their infinite wisdom is planning on (or is already) saying,
as milk has oil in it a milk spill will have to be treated as an oil
spill. That it's organic and thus biodegradable and probably good for
the environment doesn't seem to register with them. That means farmers
will have to build containment ponds along with all the other regs
including training with the local hazmat team.

We will be VERY lucky if it stops at $4.00. I predict at least $5
within a year or at the mosttwo.
Remember "fearless leader's goals".
