Well, all the snow is finally gone, it's hit 66 or 67 today and the
forecast for tomorrow is 78....Ooops, they have raised that to 80. That
would set, or rather shatter the record high for the 10th by close to 10
degrees. The record for today was 64. Average for this time of year is 50.
Which, gets me to where I was going. I have the mast, brackets,
pulleys, winch, and cable in place with the AV640 mounted on the mast.
I still have to put the counterpoise and capacity hats in place and
it'll be ready to crank up. I *hope* to go out and do that after I
finish this and then "crank 'er up". Of course there is still the little
matter of putting it on frequency for all the bands and maybe a little
maintenance here and there, BUT the first bands to be set will be
6-meters and 40 meters. Admittedly the base of the AV640 will only be
at 25 feet instead of 40, but I hope it works.
I'll need to add the guys too as they have scattered thunderstorms with
some heavy rain tonight followed by some real storms tomorrow after it
heats up.
Southern Michigan is *supposed* to get some severe weather, but so far
it's slated to go just South of us. Maybe I should make sure to put the
lightning arresters in line.
BUT *I'm almost back on six* so sunspot cycle uptick or not you can kiss
those spring openings goodby.

Roger (K8RI)
