The problem with transverters is not only do they
add complexity that is missing in a multi-band
multi-mode transceiver, they also often cost 1/3
the cost of a used modern multiband multimode.

e.g. for a $200. transverter to add 6m to a 10m
HTX-10 one may sell the mobile for $100. and buy
a FT-857D for $600. that provides transmit 160-440
plus receive DC-daylight.

OTOH ... sometimes we like the old gear ...  :-)
