I had an IC-505 and totally loved it. LCD freq. display and a bomb bay to load a bunch of D Cells in to boot. A lot of people told me that the 502 had to be adjusted often to make the rec track with the TX accurately.

Hearing is a physical process....listening is a mental process

Doc:

The IC-502 and the Mizuho rig you emailed about a few weeks ago are a blast
to use when the band is open, and you have a decent antenna. And when the
band isn't open, they pick up static just fine, like all the other 6m radios
do. Look up my call on QRZ (K0AJL). There's a picture of me using a setup I
have alot of fun with when camping during the Es season. I've made lots of
contacts with it (without endlessly calling CQ).

Incidentally, when I'm operating from home, I have nearly the same luck with
my PA off as I do with it on- I remain convinced that low power is adequate
for the majority of contacts when six is open (although my 5-9+ reports turn
into 5-7s).

Have a great day.

Andy K0AJL
