Some are good and some...well... OTOH I see some nice prices on New
811's and 813's or about twice what I've been paying for surplus.

Yah, but if it has a 3CX or 4CX, watch out. Look at the 3CX1500A7 NOS
(IE 8877)
OTOH they have a really good price on that 7213 u-wave tetrode for those
that recognize the tube. A pair of those in that 6 and 2 meter amp in
the handbook would loaf at the legal limit. Admittedly 2 X $437 is not
for the amp on a shoestring budget, but that's a fraction of new ones.
IIRC it's an ultra linear tube with IM in the -40 to 50db plus range.
If I hadn't just purchased a new HF amp I'd go for a couple of those.

Down in the 6-meter region each tube is good for over 1200 out with
relatively low drive and can do so up to around 600 MHz. It's a beefy
tube using coaxial construction. It's 3 3/4" in diameter and about 3
1/4" tall with a weight of 2#. Unfortunately it does take a special
socket which means there is little demand for them.

"To me" a gem hidden among the every day stuff. Now watch 'em raise the
price, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass anyway.
