I don't think that makes you an old fart at all. I am a middle aged fart
myself, 75% of the folks that I have on facebook or myspace are ham related,
there is a lot of very large groups just for ham radio. When someone will
post something like "hey 6m is open and I am on 50.???" I will right away
jump on the freq and see if we can have a QSO.
Just like this group and hundreds of yahoo groups they all have the same
reasoning, we chase each other and more.
For the past few days 15, 17 and 10 were open, I posted this and a bunch of
folks came and joined in on the fun.
Just like someone else said, this group has a face book page, the
Freewheelers Group has a page, DX groups have a page and when you post to
the group it goes to everyone, with some of the groups that is way over 2000
people from around the world. Now that's hell of a round robin!
The new technology is here to stay for a long time, it is a great tool to
have in your bag to chase the grids and or DX. I guess it does come down to
personal preference as well. I don't "twit" at all myself but I know lots
of hams do.
When 6 starts to open more I would be happy to have a QSO with you, EM84km
if you need it.
Maybe post what freq you are on here?..hi hi
