It's not SSTV, it's JT6M, a WSJT mode commonly used for meteor scatter and
marginal tropo openings. K5N announced that if the band was dead (it appears
to be dead now) that they'd switch to WSJT modes. That might be what you're
hearing.
I'm copying it here as well. It looks like Gary, W4AVY is attempting to work
them using that mode. Good luck!
