If he closer to me, I would offer him some of my extra Heliax (1/2 , 7/8 and 1 5/8)....The best deal I got was on 125ft of 1 5/8in Heliax....at a $1/ft....and the connectors were STILL sealed in the bag NEW at no cost...a friend of mine with Motorola dropped his jaw when he saidf what I got....asked me how guilty I felt writing the check...

(NOT one damn bit ;) I bought it all from a ham in N Houston who knew what it was worth and had offered it on the Tx DX Society mail list or else he was gonna trash it!!! 5 days went by and noone jumped on it..luckily I had to go to that side of town to get some things..so I made my offer and viola!!! (THe connectors are still sealed)..

I also got 400ft of 1 5/8 that fell off a two way tower after Hurricane Gilbert....it snapped at 400ft (it went to 600 but the wire ties had come loose and the Heliax swung in the wind until it broke)...got one good connector off the bottom and the coiled up cable (it was in some trees...tied it off to the van and pulled it out onto the ground ;)

However, for anything under 1000ft on UHF, 7/8 or even 1/2 in Heliax will work fine..I stay away from LMR due to the dual shields which EVENTUALLY cause some galvanic issues; besides, I got plenty of Heliax and connectors!!..(YOU DONT USE LMR cable in a duplex/repeater setup..it creats NOISE and only going to REAL copper braid or Heliax jumpers will fix it!)
