Is JT65 used for terrestrial communications on 6m? I have just started using
it regularly on HF and it does really well with weak sigs.

PSK31 is known as a "very weak signal" mode....a lot of times, it can copy
at or below the noise floor.. RTTY? Not really...PSK31 is NOT an error
correcting mode (also RTTY is not) so once your transmit, you will NOT
retransmit it and anything lost in reception is gone....Other digital modes
are error correcting.
its a shame the rules do not allow digital below 50.100 in the US....would
make more sense to have it in the CW portion than the SSB voice range
