READ the INSTRUCTIONS..!

An easy way to solve all kind of issues is to download the PDF files 
for your make(s) and model(s) of equipment & save the  PDF file to 
"desktop", that way it's easy to find references on newer radio 
equipment, without bird dogging & paper clipping pages of print 
instructions.)..

Many hints & ideas about older radios may be found in the archives of 
QST Magazine on the ARRL site (Another reason to belong to 
ARRL....  Borrowing a hint from AAA: "It pays to belong")

Referring to instruction sheets packed with new equipment easily can 
solve 99% of problems reported on this and equipment oriented lists..

THEN if you don't find answers, post the question (Regardless of how 
stupid it may sound, as some of us eventually have a memory short 
circuit & need some prompts.)..

Odds are that someone has experienced a "memory short circuit" before.. :-)
