[SixClub] 6m Tropo

Karl,
I'm new to VHF/UHF/SHF operating with only three seasons of experience on
the bands, but I have been very active on all modes and bands thru 10ghz.
My feeling is that while tropo may offer enhancement on 6 Meters, it often
affects the higher bands to a greater degree. I've seen openings where
signals were strong on 432, 902, and 1.2ghz, but not nearly as good on 2
Meters.
Also, e-skip is so frequent on 6 Meters that it is viewed as the dominate
mode of propagation. Rarer stuff like F2 or even more exotic modes get a lot
more attention on the Magic Band.
Have no fear, the band will begin to open soon---and VUCC in a single season
even with modest equipment is certainly a possibility. I'll look forward to
working you on the Magic Band, and hope you'll consider adding more bands as
you can. All the fun is on VHF/UHF, believe me. I now consider my nearly
four decades of HF work to be largely a waste---nothing I've ever tried is
more fun that the world above 50mhz.
Welcome to the Magic Band---and hope to work you soon.
73,
Les Rayburn, N1LF
