For E-Skip:
I don't think it would make a difference unless it was right on the "EDGE"
of hearing the station - or being heard. And almost all the stations I hear
are SOLIDLY in - except right at the end of the QSO - where you have about 5
seconds of fading... but before it is gone completely... :)
For F-skip:
It might make a difference at the peak of the cycle when you are trying to
work DX.
Summary: Always better to have the best antennas and feedline and radios
and technique. YOU have to decide if it is worth it or not. If you were
right on the edge of hearing EL58 yesterday.... you might have wished you'd
have it... :)
